Environmental Services' Watershed Revegetation Program is preparing for a busy planting season! Over 150,000 bareroot native trees and shrubs (including 42 species!) will be planted this winter in natural areas throughout the city. Forty-five sites will be planted including Mt. Tabor, Riverview Natural Area, and Foster Floodplain. Our tree cooler (pictured below) is filled with over a half a million bareroot seedlings to accommodate Metro and other organizations involved in restoration.
It might seem strange to plant in the winter, but because the seedlings are dormant, they are more easily handled and planted. Here's to another great planting season for Reveg and our partners! Visit the program website to learn more.
