Stormwater Management Improvements
Environmental Services completed construction in several neighborhoods to modify sumps, also called underground injection control (UIC) structures. Sumps are vertical, perforated pipes installed underground that collect stormwater runoff from streets and allow water to soak into the ground. This project removed some sumps and adjust the depth of others to comply with state standards. The manholes remove sediments from runoff and the clean water then flows into the sumps and soaks into the ground to replenish groundwater.
