Are there lookalikes?
Absolutely. Grasses are one of the most difficult groups of plants to identify, and incorrect reports of false-brome are common even among professionals. When taken together, the characteristics mentioned on the ID page (fuzzy leaves, seeds directly attached to the main stem, and bright green bunches of foliage) are good indicators of false-brome, though consulting the city or other weed management partners is an excellent idea before attempting any kind of management. Notice how the seedpods in this picture of Columbia brome are attached to a short stem that then attaches to the main stem.
