How bad is it?
Giant hogweed is a significant concern in Europe, and particularly Britain and Ireland. In the Pacific Northwest, though, comprehensive and tenacious management have removed giant hogweed from being a widespread threat. The points on the Portland map represent a handful of new or noticeably managed patches. Nearly all remaining points are a patch with just a few seedlings, perhaps an older rosette, or are only being monitored (because they have no plants).
