Manufactured stormwater treatment technology approved for use in Portland
News Release
July 9, 2015
The City of Portland has approved a manufactured stormwater treatment technology for use in Portland. A city evaluation determined that the Contech Engineered Solutions Filterra® Bioretention System meets pollution reduction requirements in Portland’s Stormwater Management Manual (SWMM). The approval period is for three years.
Manufacturers can ask city staff to evaluate stormwater treatment technologies to determine if they meet SWMM pollution reduction requirements and Portland City Code 17.38. The city evaluation uses requirements established by the Washington State Department of Ecology. Contech’s Filterra® Bioretention Systems are the first approved under the process.
Manufactured Stormwater Treatment Technology submittal guidelines, the application and renewal form, and a list of approved devices are posted at www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/64048.
The 2014 SWMM is available for download at www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/SWMM. A free compact disc version is available at the City of Portland Development Services Center, 1900 SW 4th Avenue, or by calling 503-823-7103.
