Sewage release on SE 11th Avenue
Sanitary Sewage Overflow Advisory
December 7, 2015
City maintenance crews have cleared roots blocking a public sewer line to stop a sewage release at 711 SE 11th Avenue.
From the time maintenance crews verified the release at 10:00 p.m. yesterday until they stopped the release at about 8:05 a.m. today, an estimated 60,000 gallons of sewage flowed from an outdoor sewer cleanout, and through indoor fixtures into an apartment building.
Sewage that overflowed from the outdoor cleanout flowed into catch basins on SE 11th Avenue that drain to the combined sewer system.
The sewage release on SE 11th Avenue was a sanitary sewer overflow caused by roots blocking a sewer line. The combined sewer overflow advisory issued for the Willamette River today is a separate, unrelated event.
