Sewage release to the Columbia Slough
Sanitary Sewage Overflow Advisory
December 7, 2015
A malfunctioning valve caused a sewage release this afternoon from the Inverness Pump Station at 12008 NE Inverness Drive. Maintenance crews discovered the release at about 12:44 p.m. today and shut down the pump station to stop the release and make repairs.
Some sewage spilled onto NE Inverness Drive just west of NE 122nd Avenue and flowed into the adjacent north arm of the upper Columbia Slough. Maintenance crews were not able to estimate how much sewage reached the slough.
People should avoid contact with the slough around NE 122nd Avenue through tomorrow afternoon because of increased bacteria in the water.
