Updated December 6, 2018
Construction has finished on an Environmental Services sewer project to repair 580 feet of nearly 100-year-old sewer pipe in NW Industrial Street between NW 26th and 28th avenues (see map).
Taking these actions will help protect the public and the environment by reducing the possibility of costly breaks, leaks, blockages and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.
Developments of Note
- Construction of the main sewer line, stormwater inlets, and service connections have finished, and the road has been opened temporarily while crews are being scheduled for final paving of NW Industrial.
- Final paving on NW Industrial has been tentatively scheduled for Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15, weather depending.
- During final paving, NW Industrial will be closed to traffic to all traffic. Please follow traffic control signage.
Sewer Construction Schedule
Please be aware that schedules are also subject to change due to a variety of factors, including conditions underground, weather, traffic impacts and subcontractor and materials availability.
Please be aware of traffic control signs and follow the direction of the flaggers. Although NW Industrial will be closed during final paving, local freight traffic to the businesses directly affected by the sewer construction will be maintained.
If you are expecting that you will have freight traffic on NW Industrial during the days outlined for final paving, please reach out to Joe Tursi at 503-823-5753 or Joe.Tursi@portlandoregon.gov to help coordinate that traffic around and/or through the paving area. You can also speak with a City Inspector on site. They will be wearing a City of Portland vest and will be able to help move your trucks through the paving area safely.
Post Construction Survey
Environmental Services staff notify the public in advance of the construction activities, provide information throughout the project, and work to resolve problems during construction. Our intent is to identify concerns and minimize disruption as much as possible while completing these necessary projects.
Now that the work is almost completed in your area, we ask for your help to measure how we did.
Please complete this survey at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/NWINDUSTRIALsurvey to help assess the effectiveness of our public involvement and community outreach efforts. You will also be receiving this survey in the mail in the next few days which you can fill out and send if that is easier.
Thank you for your cooperation during this project. We appreciated your communication and look forward to reviewing your responses to our post-construction survey.
