A 24-inch corrugated metal pipe under SW Hamilton Street between SW 39th and SW 40th avenues has failed and created a sinkhole in SW Hamilton. The street is closed at that location for up to six weeks while Environmental Services replaces the pipe.
Eastbound traffic on SW Hamilton is detoured around the closure at SW 45th Avenue and westbound Hamilton traffic is detoured at SW Dosch Road. The city’s contractor maintains local access on SW Hamilton.
Construction hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays and possibly Saturdays. SW Hamilton is closed to through traffic 24-hours a day, seven days a week until repairs are complete.
The failed pipe carries flow from a Fanno Creek tributary under SW Hamilton Street. Work crews are using pumps to pipe stream flow around the work area during repairs.
