Sewage release to a Fanno Creek tributary

Field crews investigating high bacteria counts in a southwest Portland creek today discovered a broken sewer pipe leaking sewage into an unnamed tributary of Fanno Creek. Sewage is leaking into the tributary just off SW 48th Place between SW Lowell and SW 48th Avenue.

Maintenance crews are assessing the broken pipe and planning repairs. People should avoid contact with water in the creek until crews repair the broken pipe.
