Last summer, volunteers with Rose Community Development and Depave removed a section of concrete from the parking lot at the Beyer Court Apartments in the Lents neighborhood to make way for a new rain garden. This project is funded by the Community Watershed Stewardship Program (CWSP).
Now spring is just around the corner, and it’s time for planting the project. This new rain garden will not only clean stormwater runoff, it will add lovely landscaping to the neighborhood while creating colorful new habitat for pollinators like bees and butterflies, and other beneficial fauna like hummingbirds.
Anyone is welcome to come help out. Rose Community Development will provide the tools. Please dress for the weather (and getting messy), and wear close-toed shoes.
When: Friday, March 25 from 1pm-5pm.
*In case of heavy rains on Friday, planting party will be moved to Saturday, March 26, same time.
Where: Beyer Court Apartments 9305 SE Harold St. (at 92nd)
