Environmental Services has designed the Woodlawn-King Alleys Streets Repair Project to repair or replace sewer pipes that are on average 90 years old and in deteriorating condition. This work will include repairing or adding service laterals that connect houses and businesses from the curb to the public sewer in the street/alley. Taking these actions now will help protect the public and our environment by reducing the possibility of costly breaks, leaks, blockages, and sewage releases to homes, businesses, and streets.
Construction will begin summer 2017 and take about a year.
The map indicates locations where work will occur, and the construction method that will be employed. You can learn more about construction methods HERE.
Environmental Services has been granted a noise variance to allow open trench work and cured-in-place pipe lining at locations indicated on the maps below. A variance is required when work occurs outside normal construction hours, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This includes work after 6:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m., and all hours on Sunday.
Work will take place for up to six weeks on NE Killingsworth Street at Martin Luther King Boulevard.
