Environmental Services has designed the Woodlawn-King Streets Repair Project to repair or replace sewer pipes that are on average 90 years old and in deteriorating condition. This work will include repairing or adding service laterals that connect houses and businesses from the curb to the public sewer in the street/alley. Taking these actions now will help protect the public and our environment by reducing the possibility of costly breaks, leaks, blockages, and sewage releases to homes, businesses, and streets.
Construction began in late August 2017 and is expected to continue until January 2019. Visit the project homepage at www.portlandoregon.gov/bes/wokistreets for work locations and developments of note.
Please be aware that schedules are subject to change due to a variety of factors, including conditions underground, weather, traffic impacts and subcontractor and materials availability.
The map indicates locations where work will occur, and the construction method that will be employed. You can learn more about construction methods HERE.
Environmental Services has been granted a noise variance to allow open trench work on NE Killingsworth Street at Martin Luther King Boulevard. A variance is required when work occurs outside normal construction hours, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. This includes work after 6:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m., and all hours on Sunday.
Work will take place for up to six weeks on NE Killingsworth Street.
