Environmental Services is designing two projects to repair about 23,000 feet of public sewers in the Montavilla neighborhood and eastern edges of North Tabor, Mount Tabor and South Tabor neighborhoods. That's equivalent to about 4.5 miles. Existing sewers are about 80 to 100 years old and in deteriorating condition. The work will include some manhole and storm drain replacement and new public sewer connections for private properties where necessary.
The sewer repairs will improve sewer and stormwater infrastructure, increase sewer capacity, and reduce the risks of street flooding and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.
Construction is anticipated to begin in 2018 and take about a year and a half to complete.
