Environmental Services has almost completed repairing or replacing about 16,000 feet or about 3 miles of deteriorating public sewer pipes in the Concordia Neighborhood, plus a few blocks in Woodlawn and Beaumont-Wilshire. Most of the sewer pipes were 90 to 100 years old and in deteriorating condition. The sewer repairs will improve sewer and stormwater infrastructure, increase sewer capacity, and reduce the risks of street flooding and sewage releases to homes, businesses and streets.
Environmental Services staff notify the public in advance of these activities, provide information throughout the project, and work to resolve problems during construction. Our intent is to identify concerns and minimize disruption as much as possible while completing these necessary projects.
