Kate Wood is the City Risk Manger for the City of Portland and has over 25 years of government risk, loss prevention and safety experience. In her current position, Kate is responsible for managing, directing and providing leadership to the development and implementation of a city-wide risk management and loss control programs. These programs protect the City from exposure to risk that could have adverse consequences to City operations, financial position or community reputation. Kate’s work experience has reflected her educational achievements, while she holds a Bachelor of Science (Nursing) from the Hunter College-Bellevue School of Nursing, City University of New York. She attended the University of Washington in Seattle where she earned a master of Nursing degree. At the same time she earned a Certificate in Administration from the University of Washington Graduate School of Business. In 1990, Kate was awarded her Associate in Risk Management.
