To adjust your chair, watch the chair adjustment video  and follow the directions below:Desk Chair

  • Sit down all the way back in your chair.

  • Adjust the seat height so you are sitting as high in the chair as you can with your feet flat on the floor. Your hips should be slightly higher than your knees.

  • Many chairs have a forward tilt option on the seat pan. This adjustment helps your hips and spine to be in a more neutral position.

  • Many chairs also have a seat pan slider adjustment. The seat should be long enough to support your thighs while allowing you to sit all the way back in your chair comfortably.

  • Adjust the back of the chair so your upper and lower back are supported. Most chairs have vertical and horizontal chair back adjustability so that you can adjust the back angle and the location of the lumbar support.

  • Adjust armrests (if applicable) so that your shoulders are relaxed while using  them. Most chairs have both vertical and horizontal adjustability.

Requests for chair fittings or evaluations should be made through your Bureau Ergonomic Coordinator.
