Calendar Public Trash Can Program Release Community Events Public trash can program release, clean up event and storytelling session. 8114 SE Division Jade District Centered at 82nd Avenue and SE Division, the Jade District is one of the most diverse districts both at a city and state level. The Jade District Vision Plan engaged residents and businesses in the area a few years back, including brainstorming sessions led in five different languages. One of the identified outcomes was a recommendation that some specific businesses would benefit from public place garbage service. The Grand Opening The unveiling of the new garbage cans will take place on Saturday June 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Some of you may know the old furniture store that was obtained by Metro and is currently in the process of being transformed to low-income multifamily housing, the Jade/ APANO Multicultural Space (JAMS.) The event will kick off at JAMS (8114 SE Division Street) at 10 a.m., where we will give folks vests, litter pick-up tools, and send you off to make the Jade glitter! Participants will reconvene at JAMS at noon for some food and beverages, a storytelling of how to engage in waste management and why it is important to the city and to the Jade, and a tabling session from some of our partners (like SOLVE). Support the community Last month, the 82nd Ave City of Roses Parade was cancelled, which affected the community in a negative way. The annual event has historically provided residents with an opportunity to revisit or discover some of the small businesses in the area. The community is taking steps to assure future events are not cancelled to avoid further hurting the community and business directly. Your attendance at this event can be a great opportunity to support the community in a time of need! 2017-06-03 10:00:00.0 2017-06-03 14:00:00.0 0 0 0

Calendar Building an Accessory Dwelling Unit on Your Property in Portland Community Events The ADU Class: This class is intended for homeowners interested in building an ADU on their property. For most homeowners, building an ADU is not simple or straightforward--it's essentially the job of being a land developer--- a job that most of us know have ever done, or will likely ever do again. Think of this class as an on-ramp to the process of designing and building an ADU. This class will open your eyes to the spectrum of content that you'll execute and manage in the course of designing and building and ADU. It is intended to make the whole process and project better by helping you understand the ADU design, management, and building process. By the end of the class, you will better understand the design/permit/build process, which will save you significant time and money, and will result in a better product--an ADU that will work well for your particular situation. In the process of designing and building my ADU, I have become passionate about ADUs generally. I am not a general contractor nor an architect trying to pitch my services to you. I am a homeowner and environmental professional with a passion for ADUs and a lot of practical information to share about them. The class is full of extremely high-value information that you can't find anywhere else. You'll Walk Away from the Class Understanding… The design, permitting, and building process Relevant green building concepts, approaches, and certifications Financing, rebates, incentives, cost-saving design/build measures, contracts Resources, references and contacts to help you design and build your ADU (including ADU regulations, local building material sourcing recommendations, a budget sample, contract types and more). http://pdxadu.blogspot.com/p/adu-class-for-homeowners.html 2017-06-17 09:00:00.0 2017-06-17 17:00:00.0 0 0 0
