Recap: Community Walks in N/NE Portland

Add a Comment

A short update on the who, what, where when, why of the recent N/NE Quadrant Project community walking tours

N/NE Quadrant Project team member, Karl Lisle, speaks to community walking tour participants in the Lloyd DistrictThe N/NE Quadrant and I-5 Broadway/Weidler Plans team led two community walks around the Lloyd District and Lower Albina on September 25th and 29th, respectively. On the two-hour tours, staff and community members learned about these two subdistricts of the N/NE Quadrant and offered ideas about how they could be improved.

Main topics of discussion included:

  • opportunities for development and appropriate uses
  • transportation challenges and opportunities related to future street car alignment
  • freeway improvements and barriers to pedestrian and bicycle access
  • open space needs, including access to and views of the Willamette River

The map and feedback pamphlet for the walking tours can be found here (Lloyd District) and here (Lower Albina.

If you missed the tour, we encourage you to take a self-guided walk and provide feedback about the issues and locations in the pamphlet as well as any other ideas you have about the district.

Observations, comments and feedback were recorded and will be used to help frame issues, opportunities and constraints for discussion later in the planning process. A summary of the walk discussions will be posted to the website later this month.
