Report will inform future planning along the river

Updated information about land uses, ownership, natural resources, recreation, and historic and cultural resources within the Willamette River Greenway Proposed Draft is now available for the public to review. River Plan Headed to the Oregon Supreme Court

In mid-February 2012, the City of Portland was notified that the Oregon Supreme Court had agreed to review industry's appeal of the River Plan / North Reach case. Previously, City Council unanimously adopted the River Plan / North Reach in April 2010, but that decision was quickly appealed by Gunderson / Greenbrier, Schnitzer Steel and the Working Waterfront Coalition to the Land Use Board of Appeals (LUBA), the Court of Appeals and now the Oregon Supreme Court.

The general question that industry asked the Supreme Court to review relates to the extent that existing industrial uses along the Willamette River are protected under State Planning Goal 15, the Willamette River Greenway goal.

The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on June 12th at 1:30pm in Salem, but there is no deadline for their decision.
