The PEG heard presentations from staff on the Working Draft Part 2 Mapping about Southwest and East Portland and an example from East Portland about Tree Canopy. Members discussed issues relating to infrastructure, land capacity, density, natural resources and alternatives to ensure appropriate investment in infrastructure, resource protection, equity.
The PEG will meet with the Networks PEG for the first hour. They will then continue with Part 2 Mapping discussions, focusing on North and Northeast Portland and Habitat Corridors.
The PEG debriefed the April 3 Environmental workshop, and staff gave a presentation on the Comprehensive Plan Update Working Draft Part 2 and the role of the WHE PEG.

The Watershed Health and Environment PEG discussed the impacts that policies can have on people of color, low income people and on other species. The PEG members recognized that those who are often more negatively affected need to be part of the policy conversation and those who are part of the policy conversation need to be allies, and to ask critical questions based on this awareness.
The PEG received an update on the Comp Plan process, discussed the Cumulative Impacts paper and suggested policy recommendations.
