Freight’s Role in Meeting Economic Development Goals (1:15 p.m.)

Presenter: Steve Kountz, BPS

Description: Presentation on City’s economic development goals, the role of freight in meeting those goals, and how current land use designations accommodate freight and respond to economic development goals.    

Policy questions to be addressed include:

  • What changes to the comprehensive plan are needed to respond to anticipated growth needs?
  • How can the role of freight in meeting the City’s economic development goals be enhanced?
  • How can economic prosperity be accommodated within a green hierarchy?

Freight Network and Sustainable Freight Strategy (1:45 p.m.)

Presenter:  Bob Hillier, PBOT

Description: Presentation the City’s existing freight network, classifications, and Sustainable Freight Policy, to be followed by discussion on policy questions including:

  • How can differing mobility needs within industrial areas best be accommodated?
  • How can freight mobility best be accommodated outside of industrial areas?
  • Does the City’s approach to freight mobility achieve equity objectives?
  • How is a Stainable Freight Strategy integrated with Civic Corridors and other Comprehensive Plan elements?

Briefing on New Apartments and Parking (2:45 p.m.)

Description:  Informational briefing on recent Bureau research and analyses on new apartments and parking, followed by a Question/Answer session.

Note:  This is an informational session only and will not be a discussion of policy.  A more thorough discussion will occur on December 20 (8:00-10:00 am) before the Neighborhood Centers PEG.
