Contents of Update Packet #166 (effective 02/13/15)

This Code Update is the result of new regulations for accessory short-term rentals (ASTRs) in multi-dwelling structures (Ordinance No 186976), and also continues the formatting-update process, which will be implemented as future code updates are made.

Code Update Packet: 166 Effective Date: February 13, 2015 Contact: Julia Gisler (503-823-7624) Amends Chapters: 33.1; 33.2; 33.110; 33.130; 33.140; 33.207; 33.400; 33.430; 33.480; 33.526; 33.855; 33.910

Substantive Changes (all in 33.207):

  • Allows ASTRs in multi-dwelling structures and multi-dwelling development (currently only allowed in single-dwellings, duplexes, and accessory dwelling units)
  • Sets a cap that limits the number of ASTRs per building to 1 unit or 25 percent of all units, whichever is greater.
  • Requires property owner’s signature, if resident/applicant is not the property owner, on all ASTR permit applications.

Note: This packet incorporates the new template for zoning code formatting. These changes are intended to improve overall readability and use fonts that are more compatible with online viewing. Chapters that are not included with this packet will be reformatted with the new template through subsequent updates.
