Recycle gift boxes, cardboard, wrapping paper and greeting cards in the blue Portland Recycles! roll cart (foil-lined items belong in the garbage).Put leftover holiday treats and natural decorations, like greenery and pine cones, in the green Portland Composts! roll cart. Multifamily residents should talk with their property managers to find out how and where to dispose of greenery and trees if they don’t have a green Portland Composts! roll cart.
Reuse packing peanuts, padded envelopes, bows and ribbons or place these items in the garbage.

Have extra garbage during the holidays?
You can set out an extra garbage can or bag on your collection day for a $5 fee. Residents who rent a house or smallplex of two to four units should talk to the landlord before setting out extra garbage or large/bulky items for collection. There is a fee for this service. Multifamily residents can alert the property manager to the need for an additional pickup if there is excess garbage and recycling.
