City Council amendments to draft 2035 Comprehensive Plan updated

On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, City Council held the last of four work sessions on the Recommended Draft of Portland's new Comprehensive Plan. Commissioners covered topics such as land for businesses and jobs, housing affordability and displacement, transportation strategies and projects, historic preservation, nonconforming uses, and growing in centers and corridors.

Updates to the Council-sponsored amendment list have been made to reflect the latest information from Commissioners' offices. These represent minor changes to the list, with a small number of additions and subtractions. The list is still relatively general, but more details will be added as Commissioners and their staff work to refine them.

By March 18, the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) intends to publish a more complete report of amendments, which will be posted to this website. The Map App will also be updated. To prepare that report, BPS staff are working with Council offices to more thoroughly articulate the amendments. The report will include specific maps and policy language.

City Council has scheduled hearings on April 14 and 20 to hear testimony on the potential amendments included in that report. They will also accept Map App testimony and email or letters about the amendments until April 20, 2016.

At the last work session, Mayor Charlie Hales also requested that Commissioners identify any further refinements by April 25. Council expects to vote on the amendments on April 28.
