The City of Portland’s Sustainable Procurement Program is developing a Contractor Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct will be used as part of a robust assessment of a vendor’s “responsibility” prior to contracting with the City of Portland. To be eligible to do business with the City, Contractors will agree to be responsible by following the principles and guidelines in the Code of Conduct that demonstrate social and environmental responsibility. "Responsibility" will be assessed through an associated Vendor Responsibility Questionnaire.
We are soliciting feedback to help shape the vendor responsibility process. Beginning in mid-October 2019, with the help of neutral consultants, the City is gathering input from subject matter experts and stakeholders on Code content, Responsibility criteria, and vendor participation. We want the Code of Conduct to be meaningful and effective as well as do-able by contractors of all sizes and types. Therefore, we are asking for input, reaction, discussion and ideas from stakeholders that are connected to some aspect of the work. Copies of the proposed, draft Code of Conduct and Vendor Responsibility Questionnaire are available for viewing/download on this page.
SAVE THE DATE: We will be holding our next stakeholder discussion on the Code of Conduct virtually on December 12th from 11:30 to 1:00 pm via live video. We invite contractors, advocates, City staff, and subject matter experts to hear how stakeholder feedback received in October/November from interviews, surveys, and live discussions is refining the City of Portland’s proposed Contractor Code of Conduct and Vendor Responsibility Questionnaire. More details to come soon on how to register for this session.
