72-Hour Kits (OMF 12th Floor Employees Only)

72-Hour Kits [Emergency Disaster Supplies]

Business Operations has placed “72 Hour Kits” around the 12th floor of the PortlandBuilding to be used in the case a disaster is sustained while you are on premise.  These kits provide a minimum of food, water and first-aid items along with a few tools which are intended for use in the case you need to shelter in place on the 12th Floor awaiting outside assistance during or in the immediate aftermath of a disaster that includes, but is not limited to:
  • Flood
  • Earthquake
  • Fire
  • Heavy snow or ice storm
  • Volcanic eruption
  • Terrorism
  • Extreme civil unrest (rioting, street violence, destruction of property)
Opening and using any contents of these kits should be limited to extreme situations only.
The kits are the 26 Inch high YELLOW plastic barrels with lids.  There are 8 located around the floor thus:

Each kit will accommodate 12 people for approximately 3 days ONLY if stringent rationing is practiced.
Kit Inventory - Small Yellow Barrels
  • Water packets  (approx 2 pouchs/person/day)
  • Space blankets (3/barrel)
  • Flashlight, (1/barrel - 30 hr lithium AND shake recharge)
  • Datrex rations (12 packet total – 1/person/day)
  • Whistle (1)
  • Sanitary wipes (1 canister)
  • Duct tape (1 roll)
  • Dust masks (12/barrel)
  • Light Sticks – 12 hour (8/barrel)
  • Compress (bloodstoppers – 2/barrel)
  • Ace Bandages (2/barrel)
Additionally the following items can be found in a BLUE Barrel
  • First-aid station (stored for emgency only)
  • Emergency band radio
  • The American Red Cross First Aid & Safety Handbook (Paperback)
  • Caffine tablets (bottle)
  • Leg Splints
  • Arm Splints
  • Crowbar
  • Rope
Please do not place any items on top of these yellow and blue barrels.
