City Budget Office

Budget Information

Each year the Mayor, the City Council, and City staff work together to develop an Annual Budget. The parties decide how to utilize the limited revenues that the City receives in order to produce the greatest benefits for the citizens. The Budget serves as an outline for how the monies that come into the City of Portland should be spent to maintain and improve the City. The Mayor, City Council and interested citizens of Portland all serve as participants in its creation and execution.

Role of PURB

Members of the Portland Utility Review Board (PURB) are responsible for providing recommendations to the City Council about the impact of utility rates on customer classes, as determined in the rate design process. The Board testifies about proposed rates and capital improvement projects that effect water, sewer, stormwater, solid waste and recycling rates to the Council during the annual budget hearings.
