The Multnomah Youth Commission inspires the city's next generation of leaders to get involved with their city government. Established in 1996, members of the commission range in age from 13 to 21 years and work to impact three main areas: policy recommendations, community engagement, and youth-adult partnerships. The Office of Community & Civic Life Youth Program works with Multnomah Youth Commission to help them participate in local government decision and policy making.

Meet the 2019-20 Youth Commission Co-Chairs

2019-20 MYC Co-Chair Jordan McElroyJordan McElroy

"I joined the MYC to help make a difference in my community. I also wanted the chance to interact with youth from all over the country. Something that is important to me is that youth of color have opportunities to succeed."

"I joined the MYC in hopes of becoming a better, more grounded advocate, as well as a source of empowerment and encouragement for the other youth in my life. One issue that has always been incredibly important to me is mental health awareness- reducing stigma, normalizing treatment, and making resources equitable, affordable, and actually effective."
