Prescription Drug Turn In and Document Shred Event



Walk, bike-up, or drive and drop off your unwanted/expired prescription drugs and sensitive documents. Drugs will be safely incinerated and documents will be securely shredded. 

Saturday October 26th, 2019, 10:00a.m. - 2:00p.m.

Event Starts NO EARLIER than 10AM -- Ends at 2PM or when the trucks are filled to capacity

 Why participate?

  • Reduce the risk of misuse of prescription medications 
  • Reduce the risk of identity theft 
  • Protect our water system with proper disposal of prescription drugs

The Sunshine Division will also be available for donations of canned food, dry pasta, and gently-used clothing for needy families. Tax deduction forms will be provided.

This FREE community shred event, prescription medication disposal, is sponsored by the Portland Police Bureau's White-Collar Crimes Unit, Office of Community & Civic Life, Sunshine Division, Rivermark Community Credit Union, and the Better Business Bureau.

Acceptable items for prescription medications disposal: Prescription medications and samples, over the counter medications, vitamins, pet medications, medicated ointments, and liquid medication in leak proof containers.

Items not accepted: Thermometers, Sharps, Syringes, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, inhalers, EpiPens.
