Did you know that flushing unused medications down the toilet or drain can negatively impact fish and wildlife? Equally troubling, accidental exposure to medicine in the home is a major source of unintentional pediatric poisonings in the United States.
FREE COMMUNITY EVENT to safely dispose of unwanted and expired prescription drugs. The event also provides free document shredding for sensitive documents.
The Sunshine Division will also be available for donations of canned food, dry pasta, and gently-used clothing for needy families. Tax deduction forms will be provided.
This FREE community shred event, prescription medication disposal, is sponsored by the Portland Police Bureau's White-Collar Crimes Unit, Office of Community & Civic Life, Sunshine Division, Rivermark Community Credit Union, and the Better Business Bureau.

Acceptable items for prescription medications disposal: Prescription medications and samples, over the counter medications, vitamins, pet medications, medicated ointments, and liquid medication in leak proof containers.
Items not accepted: Thermometers, Sharps, Syringes, IV bags, bloody or infectious waste, hydrogen peroxide, aerosol cans, inhalers, EpiPens.
Acceptable items for document shred event: Up to two grocery bags of documents.
Items not accepted: Cardboard or three ring binders
