The disability awareness event was about sharing experiences and creating networks within the disability community. Participants of this project were excited to continue building relationships and sharing their stories.

This event was sponsored by the Disability Art and Culture Project and organized by Saara Hirsi and Abdi Mohamed (graduates of Disability Power PDX).

A brief description of the event written by Saara Hirsi and Abdi Mohamed

The participants were members from different backgrounds, and we shared our experience and stories.

For example, there were immigrant and refugees from the disability community, parents who have children with disabilities, individuals, and organization that work with the disability community. People had the opportunity to learn from each other and exchange information. Even though we have different backgrounds, we also share common similarities.

Disability culture is rich and beautiful!
