Partnership opportunity

Agency partners can work with a team of student consultants for a community-benefitting, term-long project (spring).

 

Sample projects

Organizing and implementing a consciousness-raising event for the public; grant writing; community green space creation; and, other projects that have a direct impact on a community.

 

Inappropriate projects

Website development; land surveys; or, other projects with limited direct contact with community members or that lack post-term implementation plans/usefulness.

 

What PSU offers

If a group of students choose to work on your project, your organization will receive:

  • A team of knowledgeable, enthusiastic senior undergraduates
  • Regular communication, updates from the student team
  • A final product in line with your organization’s mission and matches community interest

 

What agency must offer

To ensure a successful project, agency partners must provide:

  • Feasible project goals aligned with organizational mission
  • A tentative, general implementation plan for project
  • One agency representative for the duration of the project (see more info below)

 

Agency representative qualifications

 

The agency representative should be someone who:

  • Communicates with students on a regular basis
  • Has decision-making power, or can facilitate decisions in a timely manner
  • Has the time available to assist with project management (see below)
  • Will ensure that project remains aligned with the organizational mission
  • Has a reciprocal appreciation for student development and community interests

 

Time commitment per term

 

  • Winter term – (sporadic) approx. 1 hour/wk - email, phone communication;
  • Spring term - .5 hrs/wk - meeting with students; 1 hr/wk – email/phone communication.
