Assistive Technology featured at free event on January 26th

FACT providing a free event about assistive technology tools
for children and young adults who experience disability on January 26th

Join FACT for an amazing night of mini-presentations from parents and young adults who experience disability on Thursday, January 26, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. “Assistive Technology Tools for Living, Learning, Working and Playing” is a free event at the Shriner’s Hospital Auditorium, 3101 S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road.

The presenters will share how they have utilized assistive technology in areas including: augmentative communication, behavior, education, emotional regulation, and independence. Come meet parents, see assistive technology in action, hear stories, and explore different devices that might work for your child or a young adult in your family. Resource tables will be in place before and after the event to provide a hands-on experience.

There will be discussions how assistive technology:

  • Be low-tech, mid-tech and high tech
  • Can be used in different environments like home, school and the community.
  • Can help individuals live empowered lives

Free parking in the Shriner’s parking garage is also available for those who register. Visit the event website to register and learn more about this event.

Formed in 2002, FACT (formerly the Family Action Coalition Team*) is a family leadership organization for individuals and their families experiencing disabilities, working collaboratively to facilitate positive change in policies, systems, and attitudes, through family support, advocacy, and partnerships.
