Fair Housing for Independent Living Training
to be provided at SE Uplift on August 28th
Affordable, accessible housing is hard to come by in the Portland area. Having a disability should not present another barrier to finding and maintaining housing. Training will be provided at SE Uplift's office, 3534 S.E. Main Street in Portland from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 28.
This one-hour training is intended for people with disabilities who currently live independently, those considering independent living, and family members. Topics will include:
- Recognizing discrimination before and after signing a lease
- Requesting reasonable accommodations
- Record keeping to protect yourself
- Landlord retaliation and what to do when your rights are violated
Food will be provided for attendees. Visit the Fair Housing for Independent Living Facebook page to indicate if you are going to attend or are interested.
