May 26, 18 - Trimet Attack Commemoration
This weekend is the one year anniversary of the Trimet Attacks. Portland United Against Hate Coalition is inviting you to come together with us as a community against hate and bigotry.
The PUAH Coalition will gather at the Trimet-sponsored event at the Hollywood Max Station to commemorate the violent attack on two young women and the three men who put their lives on the line to protect their fellow community members.
Trimet Attacks Anniversary Commemoration
Saturday, May 26
3:30 to 5:30 pm
NE 42nd and Halsey
PUAH members will arrive at 3pm to offer solidarity stickers and handouts with information about getting engaged in the work to end hate violence. If you would like to volunteer with us, reply to kari.koch@portlandoregon.gov or look for the PUAH banner.
Together, we will honor those that lost their lives and continue the fight for those who have survived. These murders were a tragedy, but not an isolated incident. We are commemorating a deadly version of what is happening in Portland to many communities each day - verbal attacks, threats, fear, loss of life.
It is time to heal, time for justice, time for action.
We are a community supporting and protecting one another, working to end hate violence, and visioning a positive future. In the year since these attacks, PUAH has been building a city-community partnership to track, respond to, and prevent hate violence. We encourage your organization to join us and engage in the work of building a safer, more inclusive Portland. More details are always available on our website.
