Stinky Chicken Dog 2 documentary to premiere December 15th

Graphic of Stinky Chicken Dog 2 handbill

The graphic above is the documentary's handbill with a large picture of Jenni smiling, looking down at a chihuahua in her lap and petting the dog is in the center. Surrounding that are six individual pictures showing the stars of the film: Kiersi, Rowena the cat, Kali the dog, Brandon, Jenni holding a “life is better when I’m with my dog” pillow, and Chutney the dog. Behind the pictures is a grungy starburst background in pale blue and tan.

Stinky Chicken Dog 2 documentary to premiere December 15th

Stinky Chicken Dog 2 by Jenni Funk is a documentary on people with special needs and animal companions. It will premiere Saturday, December 15, at 2:30 p.m. at New Expressive Works, 810 Southeast Belmont Avenue. Admission is $10 but no one will be turned away.

This documentary is a successor to last year’s Stinky Chicken Dog which was Funk’s first film supported by help of Cheryl Green. Jenni’s dog, Kali the chihuahua, does have breath that’s a little bit stinky and very much a chicken as the films’ name suggest. However, Green says that the films are not just about Kali. “They’re about the complex, tender relationships people with special needs and disabilities have with their animals, whether they’re service animals or companions or pets. There’s joy, sadness, pride, wonder, and even longing. Jenni captures all of it in short films so beautifully.”

New Expressive Works is on TriMet line number 15 and near Numbers 6 and 70. Accessibility: ASL interpretation, assistive listening devices, Open Audio Description, Open Captions, wheelchair accessible venue. Please be scent-free (no perfume, fragranced laundry detergents or body or hair care products).

For more information, email or call 503-432-3169. You may also check out pictures from the film and RSVP on Facebook.
