  • What is now the Woodlawn neighborhood was settled during the 1860s. At that time, the area that today makes up the Woodlawn Historic District was an outlying rural farming village, an unincorporated area considered part of Albina.

What is now the Woodlawn neighborhood was settled during the 1860s, the last few years of the Civil War. At that time, the area that today makes up the Woodlawn Historic District was an outlying rural farming village, an unincorporated area considered part of Albina. In 1880, the railroad running from Portland to Vancouver, Washington located a train station here. By 1890, the area was finally plotted on the map as “Woodlawn. Woodlawn’s quirky angled streets remind residents of a time when the streetcar depot was a major feature of the city.
