171 Appoint 25 members to the New Portlander Policy Commission for two and three year terms (Report introduced by Mayor Wheeler and Commissioner Eudaly)
On June 8, 2016, City Council passed Ordinance 187805 (City Code, Chapter 3.131) establishing
a commission that would, inter alia, "advise the City on policies and practices to integrate
immigrant and refugee communities' voices and needs into the provision of City services" and
City decision-making. This proposed legislation appoints 25 members to that commission.
The commission and these proposed appointments address the integration of Portland's rapidly
growing immigrant communities, organizations, business, faith and civil society associations.
The policy research and programmatic recommendations produced by the commission will
contribute to the City of Portland's effective integration of newcomer families and communities
assets and urgencies into City policy priorities.
