At 5:51pm, Portland firefighters responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on I-84 eastbound at 28th Avenue. Crews responded to the accident from both directions of the freeway.
Upon arrival, firefighters found a motorcycle on fire with a male victim lying close by. Motorists who pulled the rider away from the motorcycle reported that the man was on fire and they helped extinguish the flames. The victim has life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Reaching the scene was challenging for first responders because traffic was extremely heavy due to the fact that President Obama's motorcade was passing by in the westbound lanes of I-84 headed for the Oregon Convention Center at the time of the accident. Portland Police are currently on scene investigating.
