Celebration & Open House

On March 26th, Portland Fire & Rescue’s Station 19 will hold a 100th Anniversary Open House from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  This event will mark 100 years of service to the SE Portland community surrounding the station.

Public and media are invited to tour the station, which is located at 7301 E Burnside. The celebration will begin at 2:00 pm with a bagpiper and opening remarks from Fire Commissioner Randy Leonard, Fire Chief John Klum, and former-Station Captain Fred Ellison.

Station 19 serves the Mt. Tabor, Montavilla, and Madison South neighborhoods and covers a large response area east to I-205, west to 47th Avenue, south to Division Street, and north to Tillamook Street.  Of Portland Fire & Rescue’s 30 fire stations, Station 19 is one of the busiest with over 3,300 emergency runs in 2010.

In March 1911, Station 19 was built at SE 61st and Stark.  The station moved to its current location in December 1953.  The original building still stands and is now occupied by Cooper's Coffeehouse.  Station 19 firefighters – past and present – will be on hand to share the station’s rich history with participants, as well as new ways that the crews go beyond firefighting and emergency response to reach out to and enrich their community.
