DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES OFFICE OF PUBLIC HEALTH CHILI COOK OFF
Portland Fire & Rescue's own Deputy Chief Mark Rasmussen, Senior Administrative Specialist Lindsay Wochnick, and Lieutenants Allen Oswalt and Paul Corah were invited to be guest judges today at the Department of Human Services Office of Public Health Chili Cook-off!
This annual Chili Cook-off is just one of many events in the month of February that the Office of Public Health personnel have committed to organize, participate in, and generously donate proceeds raised to the Oregon Food Bank.
LEARN MORE ABOUT THE OREGON FOOD BANK
Oregon Food Bank is a nonprofit, charitable organization. According to the Oregon Food Bank's website, they actively recover food from farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, individuals and government sources and then in turn deliver that food to 20 regional food banks. Regional food banks distribute this food and additional resources from local donations to nonprofit programs serving low-income people in their communities.
Oregon Food Bank also works to eliminate the root causes of hunger through advocacy, nutrition education, learning gardens, and public education.
Congratulations to all of the Chili “Iron Chefs” that volunteered their time and talents in cooking the tasty chili and to the Office of Public Health that raised close to $700.00 for the Oregon Food Bank!
