Scores of school-aged children visited with firefighters from Portland’s Fire & Rescue’s (PF&R) Fire Station 26 and learned valuable fire safety tips on Friday, April 30, 2010. Portsmouth Middle School hosted a fire safety fair, inviting local firefighters to help inform the community about the dangers of fire.
Fire Engine 26 was on hand for interactive tours. Firefighters distributed fire safety coloring books, stickers, and bracelets and demonstrated the type of fire gear worn during fires to keep them safe and protected.
Fire Station 26 serves the University Park and Portsmouth Neighborhood Associations and is staffed 24-hours a day, 7-days a week with one paramedic station officer and three firefighters.
