May 18, 2010
12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM
Portland Building, 2nd Floor Auditorium
You are invited to the upcoming Emergency Preparedness Brown Bag Lunch Series sponsored by the Portland Water Bureau and Portland Office of Emergency Management (POEM). On Tuesday, May 18th, information will be provided to attendees on Emergency Preparedness in a Changing Climate. May 18th is the anniversary of the eruption of Mt. St. Helen; this event certainly impacted the climate in the Pacific Northwest. Iceland's Eyjafjallajokul volcano is now spewing ash out into the atmosphere as well. This along with other impacts on our climate has emergency responders thinking about what the future holds in emergency planning and response. The guest speaker will be Roger Hamilton from the Oregon Climate Preparation Program at the University of Oregon. His organization has been holding workshops on these issues around the Portland area this spring. Now we get to learn about this developing story.
