Firefighter Kerry, Firefighter Issac, Paramedic Chris, and Lieutenant Shon, Engine 7
Lieutenant Shon, Paramedic Chris, and Firefighters Kerry and Isaac from Station 7 stepped out of the fire engine and into Mr. Centon’s classroom to speak and interact with health class students at David Douglas High School. The fire company spoke to students about what it takes mentally, physically, and educationally to be a firefighter/paramedic and what life is like at a Portland fire station. Firefighters demonstrated emergency medical equipment used everyday to save lives including a portable Electrocardiogram (EKG) machine used to determine a patient’s heart rate and heart rhythm and an inflatable air splint to provide strong and reliable support for fractured or broken bones. The visit ended with a show and tell of commonly used response tools carried on Portland’s fire engine 7.
Special thanks to David Douglas High School for hosting Engine 7’s Fire Crew!
