PF&R Displays Spirit of Service at Grand Floral Parade

Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) continued the tradition of participating in the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade this past Saturday.
PF&R firefighters and civilian staff gathered at the Memorial Coliseum to walk the 4.2 mile parade route next to the 1911 American LaFrance Steamer, the most historic – and possibly most beautiful – piece of PF&R apparatus. The steamer was pulled by four Belgian horses provided by Chafin Farms located in Sweet Home, Oregon.
The parade featured three special sections including Northwest Spirit, Spirit of Service, and International Spirit. PF&R was featured under the Spirit of Service section alongside the Royal Rosarians, the 1960 Rose Festival Court, the Salvation Army, the Transportation Security Administration, the Jamboree Boy Scouts from the Cascade Pacific Council, and the 1st Marine Division Marching Band from Camp Pendleton, California.
The Spirit of Service section brought parade-goers to their feet, with stirring reminders of the historic importance of patriotism. Click here to visit PF&R's Facebook page and see more photos!
