PORTLAND FIRE & RESCUE RESPONDS TO AN APARTMENT FIRE AT 13003 NE PRESCOTT DR. OVERNIGHT.

At 12:35 am this morning Portland Firefighters were called to an apartment fire at 13003 NE Prescott.  On arrival firefighters found fire between and involving two (four unit) apartment buildings. The fire was threatening a third building.  Firefighters immediately went to work extinguishing the fire and confirming that everyone was out.  The fire burned on three floors and into the attic of one building.

All occupants were evacuated with the assistance of police however two people are confirmed to have been transported to Emanuel.  An ambulance was called to the scene by police as fire units arrived and as a result AMR paramedics handled all patient care and evaluation.  Portland Fire & Rescue won't be releasing any further patient information to protect patient confidentiality.

Extinguishing this fire was complicated by damage to a gas line causing gas to free flow until the valve could be closed.  Northwest Natural personnel responded to confirm the safety and integrity of the gas service.  The electrical service was also damaged necessitating a response from the power company to evaluate and turn off power as needed.  This fire partially burned through the floor and stairs in at least one unit creating an additional hazard for firefighters.

Red cross personnel responded and are reportedly providing food, clothing and shelter for 12 people.  TIP's volunteers also responded.  Reports are that five apartment units were damaged.

This fire was a single alarm bringing Approx. 30 firefighters to the scene.  Eleven pieces of fire apparatus responded to this fire including five Engines, two Trucks, Two chiefs,  a Rehab. unit and an investigator.  The fire was dispatched at 12:35 am and recalled with all companies working at 1:22am.
