Rob is a respected Portland firefighter at Station 4 who is known by his crew for demonstrating initiative, leadership skills, and the ability to work hard.  He is not only dedicated to Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R), having served for 11 years, but he also finds fulfillment in his volunteer work after he leaves the fire station.

Firefighter Rob has been a long-time volunteer with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.  The Special Operations Warrior Foundation (SOWF) began in 1980 and is devoted to providing a college education to every child who has lost a parent while serving in Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps Special Operations during an operational or training mission.

The Warrior Foundation is currently committed to providing scholarship grants, not loans, to more than 800 children. These children survive more than 700 Special Operations personnel who gave their lives in patriotic service to their country, including those who died fighting in Afghanistan, the Philippines, and Iraqi.  To date, some 160 children of fallen special operations warriors have graduated from college.

The SOWF hosts fundraising events across the United States to support their mission. Firefighter Rob is responsible for organizing the 4th Annual NW Loop Ride, a three-day motorcycle ride that begins this afternoon.  The ride is open to SOWF members and the general public and begins at the Firehouse Pub in Lake Oswego, Oregon (23 A Avenue) and scheduled to end in Puyallup, Washington.
