“Fun Warrants” were issued by the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for the arrest of Portland Fire & Rescue’s (PF&R) Captain Mike Glenn, Battalion Chief Jim Forquer, Senior Apparatus Maintenance Supervisor Mike Bartell, and Firefighter Lisa Fivian.
On July 28, 2010, Mike G., Jim, Mike B., and Lisa were hauled off to MDA jail for a good cause. In order to make bail, participants spent the morning making last minute phone calls to co-workers and friends trying to raise over $2,000 each. "Inmates" spent weeks beforehand raising money that would be donated directly to the local Chapter of the MDA. MDA Jail bail funds will assist MDA in paying for kids to attend camp, receive wheelchairs, leg braces, special medical procedures, and support research to find a cure for the 43 neuromuscular diseases that MDA covers, including Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as "Lou Gehrig's Disease".
After a very comfortable ride to jail, and a few hours behind bars, Mike G., Jim, Mike B., and Lisa were released back into society after raising $7,200 in contributions for MDA!
Congratulations to all MDA Jail participants!
