Looking for a family fun event this weekend in Portland where you can enjoy the beautiful weather? Grab the family and head down the riverside in downtown Portland for the third annual Portland RiverFest 2010 and celebrate the Willamette River!
RiverFest offers citizens a chance to get out on the water, take river tours, enjoy live music, learn first-hand about the river's history and environment, clean-up the riverbank, and view river spectacles.
The celebration will begin on Friday, August 20, 2010 with the Endurance Swim/Relay. A full day of activities follows on Saturday, August 21 with opening ceremonies hosted by Commissioner Amanda Fritz starting at 12:30 pm at Waterfront Park. Other events will be held at various locations along the Willamette, ending with "Mamma Mia" playing at South Waterfront's new Caruthers Park (the fun starts at 7 p.m.). The Freshwater Trust Portland Triathlon and the 5K Run for the River will conclude the festivities on Sunday, August 22.
Even Portland Fire & Rescue’s David Campbell Fireboat will get in on the fun with water displays on Saturday, August 21st from 12:30 to 2:00 pm! For more detailed information on the list of RiverFest events, visit http://www.portlandriverfest.org.
