September 10, 2010 -- This morning, Fire Station 13’s Truck crew joined and led the way of 150 Knowledge Learning Corporation employees marching from Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd to Beach Elementary School to distribute new backpacks filled with school supplies to every student.
Beach Elementary, located at 1710 North Humboldt Street, is one of the largest schools in Schoolhouse Supplies' "Tools for Schools" program and is one of the highest needs schools in Portland, Oregon. Over a half of the students receive free and reduced lunch, and close to a quarter of them are English Language Learners. Many of the classrooms use a dual language immersion program. No matter the make-up of the student population, all of the students were excited to receive their backpacks.
Have a great school year Beach Elementary School Students!
