3 Teenagers Struck By Car In North Portland

Portland, OR -- Two of three teenagers struck by a car in north Portland suffered serious injuries Wednesday morning.

The crash happened at North Ida Avenue and Lombard Street just before 8 a.m.

A man driving his child to school was headed east on Lombard Street when he said the sun glare prevented him from seeing the teens cross the street. Fire officials said the man’s Honda Civic was traveling at about 25 mph when it crashed into the teens.

A Portland Fire Bureau spokesman said the teenagers were rushed to Legacy Emanuel Hospital and two of them entered the hospital’s trauma unit. The third suffered less serious injuries.

Portland police were interviewing the driver of the Honda Civic. They said he has been cooperating fully with the investigation.

North Lombard Street will be closed until 9:50 a.m. to allow for a police investigation.
